It is partic ularly s uitable for ge neral purpose p ower distributi on and co ntrol i n digita l telev isions (DT V), printers, set top boxes (STB), PCs, PDAs, and other peripheral devices. UTC US2005 contains a ch arge pump circuitry to dr ive the internal MOSFET switch and also incorporate such protection circuits: soft-start circuit protect these dev ices from being d amaged b y li miting inr ush current d uring plug- in; ther mal shutd own circuit is us ed to preve nt catastrophic s witch fai lure fr om hi gh-current loa ds. UVL O is used to ensure that the device rem ains off unl ess there is a vali d input volta ge present. A flag output is designed to indicate fault conditions to the local USB contro ller. Lo wer quiescent curre nt a s 80 μA making this devic e ideal for portable battery-operated equipment. This pin provi des po wer to both the outp ut switch and the UTC US2005’s internal control circuitry. Ground. Switch Enable (Input): Active-high (-1) or active-low (-2) Fault status. A logic LOW on this pin indicates the UTC US2005 is in current limiting, or has been shut down by the thermal protection circuit. This is an ‘Open Drain’ output allowing logical OR’ ing of multiple UTC US2005s. Slew r ate con trol. Adding a small value capacitor bet ween this pin a nd VIN slo ws turn-ON of the power FET.
