The I'PD782 is an LSI Dot Matrix Printer Controller chip which contains all the circuitry and control functions for interfacing an 8-bit processor to the Epson Model 210,220 and 240 Dot Matrix Printers. These printers are capable of printing up to 3,1 col umns per row with 7 x 7 dot matri x. The I'PD782 is ideally suited for low-cost Electronic Cash Registers (ECR) and Point of Sale (POS) systems because it frees the processor from direct control of the printer and simplifies 110 software.
There are nine separate instructions, which the IJPD782 will execute. Each of these instructions requires a single a-bit byte from the processor to be executed. Upon receipt of the instruction, the ",PD782 assumes the control of the printer, increments the position of the print head, activates the print solenoids, performs line feeds in either receipt or journal mode (or bo.
