These f eatures are impo r tant con side r ations in base station applications where the effects of antennarelated RF s witching and indirect lightning-inducedv oltage spi k es are present. PIN diode components a h ve inherent ad v antageso ver the GaAs alte r natives at PCS/cellular frequencie s . The PI-800 Se r ies atte n uator makes use of these advantages in a o l w cost sur f ace-mount pa c kage suitable for pick-and-place application s . As a result, the attentuator satisfies both the technical specifications and the manufactur ing requirements of tod a y’s demanding commercial ma r ketplac e. PIN diodes are widely accepted as more robust alte r natives to GaAs FETs and of f er higher isolation with o l wer inse r tion loss than plastic packaged GaAs atte n uators at P ersonal Com m unications Se r vice (PCS) frequencie s . The PI-800 Se r ies analog atte n uator incor por ates PIN diodes with highly relia b le thick-film technology and sur f ace mount components on a miniatureol w cost sealed sur f ace mount alumina heade r .
